Triangulation: Integrating Life Insurance into Estate and Investment Plans
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act changed the face of estate planning by doubling the transfer tax exclusion, which now stands at $11.7 million and growing. As a result, many clients now believe that they have too much life insurance. Should they cash in those policies? Tom Pauloski, National Managing Director of Bernstein’s Wealth Planning and Analysis Group, and a former insurance executive and estate planning attorney, will discuss why, in many cases, existing life insurance should be retained or repurposed, rather than cashed in. In addition, Tom will discuss how the income tax deferral feature of life insurance can be used to produce better returns in what is expected to be a very challenging investment environment. Tom will use sophisticated wealth forecasting software and the case study method to illustrate key takeaways.
